Analysing Culture in London using Social Media Data

In Q4 of 2018, I undertook social media research for a three part blog series called Analysing Culture in London. I performed exploratory data analysis (part 1), natural language processing (part 2) and computer vision (part 3) on over 30,000 social media posts about three case studies: Lumiere London, London Design Festival and Frieze London 2018

Part 1: Exploratory Data Analysis

Lumiere London 2018 was a huge light festival which took place in London. Mike Bloomberg, Gordon Ramsey, Davina McCall all tweeted about the event. Read my article where I analyse 11,000 tweets.

Part 2: Natural Language Processing

Following the EDA, I performed NLP to understand the most popular word and hashtags from the 11,000 tweets, as well as performing sentiment analysis and semantic understanding of the works. Read the article to learn more.

Part 3: Computer Vision

In this final blog post of the series, I apply computer vision techniques to understand 5,000 Flickr images about the Lumiere London 2018, a huge light festival which took place in London in January 2018.
